Last Friday a middle-aged woman stood before the judge in a magistrates' court for sentencing. There was much speculation as to what she had done and why. Today a tabloid newspaper answered the questions in great detail. It seems this woman, who has spent the last seven years abusing, harassing and threatening a family over the abduction/ disappearance of their daughter, is herself guilty of severe neglect of her elderly parents, both suffering with dementia, who she was being paid to care for by the state. Having defrauded the system she also cleaned out their bank accounts, maxed out their credit cards and spent her ill-gotten gains on holidays abroad, bought all kinds of things, claiming she had bought them for her parents. All the time she was lambasting the missing girl's parents for neglect, fraud and other more heinous crimes. For what she did to her parents she got a two years' suspended sentence, 200 hours unpaid community service and a future return to court to be told how she will repay the £18,000 plus money plus, I assume, the court costs. And, best of all, her ugly mug has been spread all over the papers, especially those in her home town, and the internet. Talking of the internet and the anti forums, it is most interesting to read the comments - no mention of the neglect of the parents, the fraudulent use of stolen monies, just an immediate 'closing of the ranks' with comments regarding her address being shown in the articles - this is automatic once someone has been convicted and sentenced unless a ban is put on disclosure for security reasons - that someone might try and kill her etc ie connecting her with their version of the recent death of an internet troll. Much more is coming out re this woman, I won't mention it here as it is readily available elsewhere, and there is a link re this on dbiag, but she seems to be a totally revolting creature with no morals and a heart of stone. We all have squabbles with our parents at some time in our lives, we may stop talking to each other while we calm down, but to treat the two people who should be so close to her so appallingly is something I have great trouble understanding.
