Is Pat Brown planning a "proper" book about the McCann case?
On 15th December 2011, Pat Brown posted this:-
I have suspected for a while now that Ms Brown is planning a "proper" book about the McCann case because the whole obsessive "Maddie Search" shenanigan made little sense to me (even as a publicity stunt) UNLESS it was part of a bigger plan.
Work or Vacation?
Since she announced her intention to travel to Portugal, Pat Brown has been at pains to tell us that the trip would be financed from sales of her banned-by-Amazon ebook and that she wouldn't take a salary for the work she would do whilst in Portugal.
(Psst - If she'd done any real research, she would know that it is illegal to hire a PI in Portugal!)
Who hired Pat Brown?
To many of us, this seemed an odd thing to say - least of all because no-one has hired Pat Brown to investigate the disappearance of Madeleine McCann! As her trip is being made entirely of her own volition and apparently at her own expense, it equates to what many of us would simply call a vacation!
Now, as I understand it, the book which she is due to publish a book about Cleopatra.

Why the #mccann hashtag?
The mystery was why she saw fit to tweet her thanks to the "fabulous" Claire Gerus using the #mccann hashtag rather than the #cleopatra or the #babylisa hashtags?
Unless the second unnamed book due out in 2012 is about the McCann case. If it is, Pat Brown's entire behaviour over the past six months suddenly becomes much clearer. The ebook of misinformation was rushed to press. This was followed by somewhat frantic publicity seeking via social networking sites and via emails to media folk seeking interviews...
If she is writing a book, the trip to Portugal can be classed as "research" and no doubt would be tax-deductable. If the trip is for "work" then the claims to not be charging (herself) for it take on a whole new meaning.
I daresay that we shall soon find out whether the book she says is due out in 2012 is about the McCann case. In the meantime, we shall all have to wonder why Brown has suddenly started ignoring her supporters on Twitter and why, having had David Bret ousted from their Facebook group, she herself quietly left and defriended a number of her staunchest supporters in the process.
Shaking off old acquaintances...
If she is indeed publishing a bona-fide book about the case, I would expect any respectable agent to tell her to "clean up her act". Or it may be that having secured a potentially lucrative publishing deal, her social networking buddies of the "5 star review" sort have simply served their purpose and are now surplus to requirement.
Only time will tell.
