The numpties hounded a man off Twitter last night. His offence? He not only made several statements indicating that he believed the McCanns to be innocent, but he also mentioned that his cousin was one of the Met officers investigating the case.
The hounders pounced on him immediately like a pack of savage dogs. "Caring nurse" Liz Martin, accused his cousin of breaching the Data Protection act (ridiculous and libelous comment), others called for the cousin who is a Met Officer to be removed from his position and Deborah Butler of the "McCanns Stalker" headline fame, announced that she had not only reported the man's Met officer cousin to the Met, but also to the Portuguese Police. MatthewWright1 brought the matter to Stalker Syn (who spends her life incorrectly "outing" McCann supporters) and she said she would look into it.
The man has wisely removed his Twitter account. He did nothing wrong. There is no secrecy surrounding the identity of the officers who are working on the McCann case and they have been photographed many times - even during the course of their work in their own HQ. Several have been named, some have spoken on TV. Others have responded to case followers in writing and had these letters scanned onto the web. It is not against any law to tweet that someone is your cousin. Such information is a matter of public record and would be easy to find out.
At no time did the man say that his cousin had spoken to him about the McCann case. This case is so sensitive that it is unlikely any team member WILL be speaking about it. The man merely said that the McCanns were innocent, that he believed them to be innocent and that he believed in everyone's right to innocence until proved guilty. In fact, the Met have publicly stated that the McCanns are NOT suspects. This announcement was made 2-3 years into their intensive and comprehensive review of the case. Most of us comprehend that when detectives investigate people thoroughly and declare them not to be suspects, that it means they are cleared, by the detectives/investigation of having commited the crime. In other words, they are believed to be innocent and have the presumption of innocence.
We have seen the McCann haters argue that the McCanns have not been found innocent in a court of law and since the case remains unsolved, then they are still suspects. They clearly misunderstand the law in this respect. Using their logic, all of us are therefore suspects in every unsolved crime that has ever been committed and no-one is innocent. But then the haters are under the delusion that the McCanns are *really* Scotland Yard's prime suspects and that the three year review and investigation is all smoke and mirrors to conceal the fact that the Met are closing in on them and that this review and investigation is just a very expensive game of "slowlee, slowlee, catchee monkee".
It is my sincerest hope that the man whose cousin is on the Met team informs his cousin of the harassment to which he was subjected by Debbie Butler, Liz Martin, MatthewWright1, Carole/Inez Shooter, Dodgy and co. These people not only abused this man, but they libelled his cousin and have potentially caused more damage to an already fragile investigation into the search for a missing child.
Shame on them all.
