I lean towards the McCanns getting their comeuppance, but have to admit that 100% innocent remark has thrown me.  Admittedly it was fleeting and the clip she chose was probably the only one out of hundreds where the McCanns appear genuine.  For an expert on lying, she wasn't very good at it herself.

Mutton's dumber than anyone realised if she thinks that Dr Leal (loving the irony of the name!) only looked at one clip.

They told me it was made by an independent company 'Shine' which we all knew and if we want to complain we write to ITV in the first instance, they will then pass the complaints to shine. I think we should ALL write and ask them 'how they can come to that conclusion that the MCcanns were 100% innocent with absolutely no evidence to back it up? I am writing to complain about a false statement that was aired on last nights programme on ITV- "The Lying Game".

It was stated that the McCanns are "100% innocent". How can this be stated when the investigation is ongoing? Have Scotland Yard given permission for this to be stated? They were 2 of the only 3 official suspects in the case, so to state they are innocent without a scrap of back up is immoral.

Im also wondering how your prodcers managed to miss the hundreds of video clips of the McCanns exhibiting less than favourable body language and cues?

Steph Tufft Dear Sir,Madam In reference to last nights showig pf "The Lying Game" where you briefly touched on the McCanns and then claimed that they be 100% innocent, or, at the very least have an "expert" claim that they depicted nothing but genuine sadness and are therefore 100% which, in my opinion, sows the seed of doubt in people's minds and tries to sway the general public into believing that this pair are telling the truth.I think we all know that they are not. Why select just that video? That tiny, fraction of a clip to show. What about the ones where Gerry squirms like a worm (fitting? I think so) at various questions, where he touches his ear when asked if he drugged his daughter, the offscreen smiles (similar to Karen Mattews, wouldn't you say?). The list is endless and together with all the blatant evidence to support the fact that they know exactly where their daughter is I find it in bad, no, the worst taste to try and convince us otherwise. If you are going to touch on the McCanns then you can't just pick and choose what you show. Was a little pay out perhaps to blame for this? Regards Steph Tufft

What a dopey mare, making a complete and utter fool of herself!

It wasn't the conclusion of Shine TV that the McCanns were innocent. It was the conclusion of the experienced academic researcher Dr Leal who doesn't conduct her research via Google as the Anti McCanns do but in cooperation with police forces and other significant bodies.

Nor is it correct to say that there was no evidence for such a claim. Dr. Leal was using the evidence of her own research and experience in the field of deception to come to her conclusion. That was evident from the programme. She was not making a legal statement but one based on her careful research and understanding of the nature of deception.

The fact that this dopey mare who is asking everyone to complain doesn't even understand on what basis Dr Leal made her statement tells us just how bright she is and just how far her complaint is likely to get her. When she calms down and starts to understand what the programme was all about she might realise what a fool she looks with her pathetic complaint.

And her pushing the idea that there are actually 20,000 people involved in those Facebook pages makes her look even more stupid. She doesn't even understand how Facebook pages artificially boost their numbers by adding people who don't know anything about the matter.

P.P.S. I am aware that Richie Allen has made some libelous comments about me and I am handling them. ''I am very well acquainted with the case and I totally disagree that there is "plenty of evidence to say the opposite" ! Unfortunately irresponsible and heartless news reporters made up claims that were simply not true. Despite the fact that these people even admit they told lies ( see for example Leveson enquiry) the rubbish they Initially wrote is what seems to stay in some peoples minds( in psychology we call this ' belief perseverance effect' ) . That , coupled with a Portuguese policeman who has an axe to grind ( because he was sacked for telling lies to the press about the enquiry) still spouting nonsense has not helped. As I said in the program , people also tend to look for the wrong signs when detecting deception. An innocent person who is upset and falsely accused WILL react with nervous/ emotional behaviour. If you can try and think of any time you have been wrongly accused of something , how did you feel?
I have formed my opinion that they are innocent based on the verifiable facts surrounding the case, rather than media conjecture. I am aware this is a contentious case and as such you are not the only person to contact me ; some have cited or attached what they mistakingly believe to be facts ( i.e. that non verbal displays indicate guilt or citing libellous press reports or anecdotal social network lies) .

I have had a reply from ITV responding to the complaint I sent them regarding claiming that the McCanns are 100% innocent on their programme the Crimes that fooled Britain. Here goes :

Thank you for contacting ITV and your comments on the programme The Lying Game - Crimes That Fooled Britain.

The programme was about criminals who fooled the police and public into thinking that they were not suspects in crimes that they were later convicted for. The programme featured a number of experts who specialise in examining 'the science of lying'. These experts pointed out tell-tale signs of lying that betrayed convicted liars such as Ian Huntley and Stuart Hazell.

In the part of the programme that referred to the McCanns, the expert Sharon Leal, described a number of people such as the McCanns who were, at times, considered to be suspects. Leal goes on to say "There's been a lot of controversy about whether or not the McCanns are innocent or guilty. My point of view is that they are 100% innocent." Leal clearly expresses this point as her opinion. Furthermore it has been confirmed by the investigating authorities that the McCanns are no longer considered suspects.

We are therefore satisfied that we have complied with our legal and regulatory obligations in relation to this programme.

Su Laws I definitely don't like her Lisa White. The second email I received from her had a disclaimer attached so I can't paste it word for word, but in so many words she thinks my cleaner is probably more intelligent and that everything I believe is rubbish. The tone is unpleasant and DEFENSIVE. Communicating with me (a pleb?) takes up too much of her time so she won't be doing it any more. Apart from being stupid, she's also a nasty piece of work. How do these people get jobs teaching? She needs to get out into the world.

   But would the facial 'lie detector' featured on the programme be able to 'record' facial expressions on/from my TV

   I have hundreds of hours of McCanns and their friends (including 'our' Clarrie) on Blu ray discs.

   And lots of 'close ups' of the McCanns faces from interviews, they just couldn't stop giving!

   Bet they are glad HDTV was invented!

   Would it be at all possible for this 'wonder machine' to record from my TV?

It is really amusing to see these pathetic fools showing their utter ignorance of what it means to be a real expert. They genuinely believe as this woman states that having watched hundreds of hours of television might result in them being considered experts, that their ability to Google and find other morons who think as they do makes them experts.

If any of them had ever been through the process of achieving an honours degree, then a master's and finally a doctorate in a relevant topic then I might be prepared to listen to them. If any of them had the vaguest notion of how to set up proper open-ended research projects rather than the stalking exercises they refer to as research, then they might be worth a moment of my time. But they haven't and they don't.

They are armchair amateurs with less ability than the average child in the skills of Googling and writing. They are often illiterate and innumerate as demonstrated in their attempts at producing forum and blog posts and even tweets. Their understanding of concepts such as probability, determinance, proof and evidence is sadly lacking and they are invariably swayed by emotion rather than reality.

And then they wonder why they are spurned and real experts with proper credentials and genuine understanding of terms such as innocence and guilt and libel and slander and genuine understanding and expertise in fields such as DNA and psychology are preferred and listened to.

One could almost feel sorry for them were it not for the fact that they refuse to learn and continue to propagate their ancient theories, the lies told by the convicted liar Amaral and continue to undertake the stalking and harassment which they term 'research'.

Their actions are deliberate and deserve punishment rather than pity. Bennett is going to find that jail is far less pleasant than even paying out a substantial amount every month for years to come and others will follow him. There is a difference between free speech and harassment, between having an opinion and publishing libel. Just because they have got away with their clear breaches of the law for so long does not mean they will go unpunished for ever.
