Will the McCanns now suffer as they hoped and prayed Gonçalo Amaral would, and as they and their lawyers ensured he did ?

Ten years of unbearable stress, forced to divorce to allow his wife and daughter to live in the family home, his pension and savings and all his assets frozen.

Having to beg from colleagues, just to eat and live somewhere.

Then losing his dear wife to cancer before Christmas last year, so she never saw the total vindication of a good, upright and dedicated man.

Rest in Peace dear Sofia roses Força Gonçalo

This morning I posted up some information that had been sent to me in good faith last December. It was regarding the death of Gonçalo Amaral's ex-wife after a year long battle with cancer. I was told not to post it at the time as GA obviously wanted his privacy for his daughter and himself.

Carolina Viola on facebook informed me this morning that it was not actually GA's second wife, Sofia Leal, who had died but his first wife, whose name is not known to us. In fact, at the time, we didn't even realise there was a first wife so it was assumed GA meant Sofia Leal. The confusion came about because his daughter's name and his second wife's name are both Sofia.

Whilst it is obviously very good news that Sofia's young daughter still has her mother, it is still very sad for GA's other daughter, Sofia, to have lost her mother.

Condolences to the Amaral family for their loss on top of all the other heartache they've endured over the years simply because Gonçalo looked for a three year old child as any decent police officer would.
