A bald, tatooed apology for a man stood in the dock yesterday and was found guilty as charged. His crime/s? To have traduced a dead soldier, harrassed his family and friends, claimed the soldier did not exist, that a troll, dead by her own hand, was a figment of the imagination of a mainline tv station and was in fact an actress, internet stalking, insults, threats .... the list is long and lurid. His run ins with the law have been many, an arrest for porn and bestiality on his computer being one of them. His website and blog are now closed, but he is still snarling away on other areas of the net. His supporters are advocating the bombardment of the judge in the case, the lawyers, the police, the papers with emails etc demanding the decision be reversed as it is a travesty of justice, there is no evidence, which is the daftest comment I have ever seen, considering it is 'out there' in black, white and color, there are screenshots of his comments on many forums, sites etc. I must admit to being somewhat bemused by all this. This 'man' is a grandfather of 6, what example is he setting for them? How will they view what he has written? Will they endorse his behavior or will they turn away in disgust? It all depends, I suppose, on how his children have been brought up and how much of their life with this 'father' impacted on them. We are all affected by our early life with our parents; mine were strict but fair, they installed in me the values they believed in, to treat others as I would like to be treated, so how did his parents treat him? Was he taught good manners, behavior etc or were his parents harsh, uncaring? There are so many imponderables regarding human behavoir that I can only say, for myself, that I was very lucky with my parents; it's very much whether you draw the long or the short straw. Maybe it was peer influence that made him what he is today - schools are breeding grounds for deviants, subversives etc, they can, and have, produced paedos, spies, murderers, sadists, dictators - but only if the child is basically undisciplined and easily influenced by the home and school environment. Now all we can do is wait and see what his sentence is and watch, with growing dismay and possibly horror, the mad ravings of his 'supporters'.
