Well we know what the claim for numbers of contributions are, but we also know that a significant number of the supposedly unique donations are the same people making regular, repeat donations.
So whatever the number is on the door, reduce by at least a quarter imo.
For weeks the actual amount donated was about £16 per donor.

Hyland's been doing his best to shift the figure though, he came into some money and has been chucking it at Gonzo.

What cracks me up is the 'regulars' are doing this at least partly to wind us up. They imagine us seething with rage while they give their money away. Quite when they realise we are sat helpess with laughter at their maudlin, overblown, unintentionally hilarious donor messages is anyone's guess.

..I am completely with Tigerloaf that these funds are recycled and should a balance be requested it would show a total considerably less than the one GFM spows.
My final thought is an expat is the UK signatory for the account.
I also believe all the legal advice is coming from someone with the surname Bennett.

Posting on behalf of a very small group of phantom policemen, living in Spain, who feel very strongly that their vital insights, letters, petitions, emails and personal appearances have been ignored for the last 8 long years.

I we realise this is an expensive way to make our point but we are paid handsome pensions and are more than a bit mental, so we don't mind.
The fact is if everyone had listened to me/us in the first place, none of this would have happened. If only the authorities had realised that retired station-masters had far more time on their hands than those currently employed. The solution is obvious but no-one can see it!

We all know this STM Awayday is absolutely vital to finding the truth about the McCann case, we are the last real hope for solving the mystery. Brits send Maddie cop’s appeal fund to €50,000

The wave of public support for former PJ investigator Gonçalo Amaral has hit a new record this week, with over €50,000 now amassed to help him fight his appeal over the €500,000-plus damages awarded against him in the long-running civil action taken out by the parents of Madeleine McCann.

But as supporters shared the news, calling it a victory for “people who put their heads above the parapet”, an internet campaign trying to prove “there is no appeal” and that Amaral is simply raising money under false pretences is trying to gather steam.

In a bid to establish the true picture, the Resident has been in touch with the offices of Isabel Duarte and Ricardo Correia, the lawyers acting for the McCanns.

Dr Correia told us: “You are right. Gonçalo Amaral made an appeal on 15th June, and we replied on 13th July”.

As to the length of time this appeal is likely to take, he was unsure.

“It is an appeal that goes up in the ranking of the courts”, he told us, adding it would take “at least a month”.

And as to why no lay person has been able to access these details via Portugal’s judicial website, CITIUS, he explained:

“You aren’t able to get details unless you have a password and a log-in”.

As a lawyer, you “don’t see any lawyer’s cases, just your own”, he added, which explains why anyone trying to research this case and where it stands will only ever find screenshots.

With the August judicial holiday almost upon us, the chances of Amaral’s appeal being heard before October look slim - but in the meantime, the online appeal to help him pay legal costs is ongoing.

Intriguingly, this appeal that has joined over 2,000 people - many of them giving small amounts every week - has been virtually ignored by mainstream media.

No one is sure why it is being ignored, but certainly the truth is that anyone who publicises it will then find themselves vilified online.

As a legal expert agreed, “it is a curious mark of this case that anyone who does not comply with the accepted storyline will find him or herself being insulted, harassed and generally abused. I can see a story there, actually”.

It is indeed a story. And as the expert warned: “You do realise that the minute you stop this rumour, they will find another one to bug you with, don’t you?”

Them not being able to answer some basic questions about how the fund is run and the money administered just illustrates that they don't understand the cause. And if you don't have all the information how can you trust the cause?

They blind, led by the nose. The funds so called cause is to pay legal bills. The forkers cause is to use any means to get at the McCann's, even if it means that they have to blindly throw money at Amaral.

If you don't know by now, using Tony Bennett or Goncola Amaral to get the McCann's is not going to work. No amount of money can find the McCann's guilty of something they did not do. Think about it. Amaral was unable to get the McCann's when he was working for the PJ, what makes you think he is able to have then arrested now? It's time that you face the facts, your wallets are getting lighter, your reputations are shot and some of you are ending up with suspended sentences for stalking/trolling/harassment. They gave Gonc misinformation about the WOC issue and it all went horribly wrong for him (not the first time he has taken advice from forkers and ended up in hot water either). Only an anti could come up with a scheme to get the trolls to fine themselves...continually...and voluntarily pay money to a man who will end up paying it to the McCanns anyway. It's genius.

Not only are they paying it regularly, and with incredible relish; their comments and unashamed joy of hating and harming the McCanns is demonstrating and reinforcing the argument that Amoral's book, docs, and actions, greatly harmed the McCanns and their children. So the trolls are fining themselves (continuously) and simultaneously harming the cause of the man they worship.

Only they're not bright enough to figure it out.

As I said before, if they were taken to court for their harassment and trolling, they would get a suspended sentence and a tiny fine. They are paying so much more than a court would ever require them to , and they are doing it indefinitely.

An anonymous group of employees of companies and legal means that are stunned by what happened. Portugal and Britain are old allies, but the McCanns and the British tabloids tried to separate us. There are two funds now, are there not? The PJGA one and the UK one run by the same anonymous people, now that Leanne Baulch has washed her hands of it. So there are several ways that the miraculous identical amounts appeared anonymously on the same day:

The Fund total does not reduce when funds are taken out, so they could take out the whole 47,000 and it would remain the same.

We have no idea how much has gone out of the account without detailed accounts. Proper detailed accounts will never ever appear, because that would require honesty.

So you could take £8000 from the GFM and transfer it to the PJGA fund. Then put it back in the GFM account via two £4000 pound donations, so that Donn can 'report' it.

Yes they would lose some money in the transaction, but look at the kind of people we're talking about - they don't bat an eye at hounding the family of a missing child and at protecting her abductor(s), so a little lost revenue in return for another Donn spectacular would mean nothing. They can and will justify anything as long as it hurts those pesky McCanns, their children and Madeleine.

Or, the PJGA transfer 8,000 from the GFM to the PJGA fund and then 'lend' it to someone in Portugal or Spain, and then that person, or those people, donate it back into the GFM account.

I can now see why LB passed over the GFM account. She would be prosecuted in this country should any 'creative accounting' was going on with the GFM monies. Those in Portugal would be less likely to be held to account.

Rob1: Exactly. Is this kind of thing against any laws? If so, who would investigate it? Surely there has to be some level of accountability for a fund claiming to hold this amount of money? Especially if it seems fishy and there are large donations inspiring lots of smaller donations? Is there a name for this kind of thing? I'm sure there is a name for when several large donors are used to make something seem kosher and encourage people to trust their own money to it.

The go fund me site collects the money from the donors, and periodically pays out the money to the donee bank account - In this case the PJGA (BPI - Banco Português de Investimento, Sete Rios, Lisboa)

The GoFundMe website continues to show the running total of donations, even though most of it has been paid out to the donor account.

You wanna "give 'em hope"? Simple. Take some money from the donee account - say... £4000, and pay it in via the "gofundme" site. Voila - the total raised goes up by £4000. Cheers for Amaral, he is such a popular fellow. Hiss boo to theMcCanns. Everyone is happy. The same trick works with companies - the "false invoice" scam. And can work with charities - put down the money recycled as expenditure and voila - the charity is raising lots of money.

This is why large charities need audited accounts.

I feel so shamed by the Portugal donors showing us for what we really are, I am sorry for lying so much and I hope this breaks the ice for all of my colleagues who have made a fortune out of this case to put in large donations before the end of the month.
